HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR FINISHING WITH BOTH FEET – THE COMPLETE 7-DAY PLAN TO SCORE LIKE A PROFESSIONAL

Most players focus on shooting only with their strong foot. It feels comfortable, safe, and natural.

But here’s the truth: a player who can finish with both feet is twice as dangerous.

Professional football is full of moments where there’s no time to switch feet. The difference between scoring and missing often comes down to one second — and one touch.

This article gives you a simple 7-day plan you can repeat every week to improve your finishing power, accuracy, and confidence with both feet — without needing fancy equipment.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Being two-footed isn’t just about tricks or showing off. It’s about freedom and unpredictability.
When defenders can’t read which foot you’ll use, you become far harder to stop.

A complete finisher can:

  • shoot from any angle,

  • surprise goalkeepers,

  • adapt in chaos,

  • and finish actions that others waste.

Let’s build that together — one week at a time.

DAY 1 – PRECISION AND CONTROL (INSIDE FOOT)

Start with technique and accuracy. Find a goal or target (a wall works too).
Focus on clean contact, balance, and direction, not power.

Session:

  • 8 sets of 10 shots with the inside of your strong foot (12–16m)

  • 8 sets with your weaker foot

  • Rest 15–20s between shots

  • Goal: 70% of shots on target

After finishing, write down which mistakes repeat — leaning back, wrong angle, etc.

DAY 2 – POWER AND TIMING (LACES STRIKE)

Now it’s about hitting through the ball with confidence. Use the top of your foot (laces), lock your ankle, and drive forward.

Session:

  • 6×8 shots from 18–22m (right foot)

  • 6×8 (left foot)

  • Use short approach: 2–3 steps max

  • Add a small run-up for power shots

Finish with 10 penalty kicks — but focus on placement, not power.

DAY 3 – SHOOTING AFTER DRIBBLE

Many players look great in drills but fail in real situations because they can’t finish after movement. Today is about coordination and control after changing direction.

Session:

  • Set up 3 cones: slalom + quick cut + shot (10 reps each foot)

  • Focus on balance — don’t shoot off-balance

  • 5× short sprints (10m) + instant shot

  • Record yourself to see body position

This is how you prepare for real 1v1 situations.

DAY 4 – ONE-TWO FINISHING (COMBINATION PLAY)

Football is about teamwork — and quick decisions. Simulate match scenarios with passing combinations.

Session:

  • Pass to a wall or partner, quick return, then shoot

  • 8×10 reps both feet

  • Focus on timing your run and first touch before the shot

  • Add variety: low shots, curled shots, driven shots

After each rep, take 10s to visualize the same situation in a real match.

DAY 5 – FINISH UNDER PRESSURE AND TIME LIMIT

Game tempo is faster than training. Now we add intensity and decision-making.

Session:

  • 5 sets of “10 shots in 20 seconds” challenge — both feet

  • Mix inside/laces, right/left, low/high

  • If possible, ask a friend to shout “left” or “right” before each attempt

  • Goal: react instantly, don’t overthink

Record your hits. Your goal is consistency under pressure — not perfection.

DAY 6 – FINISHING FROM CROSSES

You must learn to adjust your body quickly — volleys, half-volleys, and one-touch shots.

Session:

  • 6×10 finishes from low crosses (right and left sides)

  • 4×8 finishes from high or bouncing balls

  • Focus on timing and contact point — don’t swing wildly

  • One-touch rule whenever possible

Tip: imagine the defender is behind you — use your body to shield and finish fast.

DAY 7 – ANALYZE, REFLECT, IMPROVE

No great player skips this step. Every top scorer studies their technique and decisions.

Session:

  • Watch 10 minutes of your shooting clips or record a new one

  • Analyze: contact, body angle, foot placement

  • Watch 3 pros from your position (example: Haaland, Benzema, Son, Alvarez)

  • Write 3 things you’ll focus on next week

Repeat the 7-day process weekly. Progress will be visible in 3–4 weeks if you stay consistent.

SHARE YOUR TRAINING AND SHOW YOUR PROGRESS

If you’re serious about developing, record your training session this week — even if it’s short.
Upload your video to your Football Talents Tube profile at https://www.footballtalentstube.com so coaches and scouts can see your progress.

After uploading, post the link to your Football Talents Tube profile in the comments under this article.
It’s your chance to show your work and inspire other players to train with the same energy.

If you don’t know how to add your video, it’s simple:

  1. First, upload your clip to YouTube.

  2. Then, copy the YouTube link and paste it into the correct folder on your Football Talents Tube profile.

Show your work, take pride in your effort, and let your progress speak louder than your words.

SUMMARY

Shooting with both feet isn’t about being “ambidextrous.” It’s about being prepared for every situation — every bounce, every pass, every chance.

Train one week at a time. Build balance, confidence, and repetition. Soon, your weaker foot won’t feel weak anymore — it’ll feel natural.

You don’t need a coach or expensive equipment. You need repetition, awareness, and hunger to improve every day.
